New stuff!!!!!!!!

The brightest bulb in the box.
This idiom I have supposedly coined up (if it is the first of its kind that is...) actually means the same thing to "the sharpest knives in the drawer".
Ok, for those people who understand relatively slower (an euphemism) than the rest, it actually is used to describe the smartest genii of this planet.
For example:
"Although he was not one of the brightest bulbs in the box, he still worked hard in his studies and eventually achieved his desired result:11As in SPM."

To feed a king and starve a nation.
This stays true to its meaning. A king, on one hand, is filthily rich. Who the heck needs to spoon him? He's got all the money he can get. Garner more? You have got to be kidding me. Look at your less-than-average citizens. Scraping a living while you live in a palace.

To pray for snow in the desert.
This task is a fruitless effort made. So people say, but looking at the state of the earth now, all that global warming and bizarre weather changes, it could be possible. But that is not the point is it? (something like Looking For A Rain God...)

more idiotic idioms..(for your benefit, please do not use them in your english essays as they are just make up)

To do last week's homework today
To procrastinate about something (I know a lot of people who do this all of the time. Try not to make it a habit. Make me an example...hah! I do not do things last minute except studying. Wait. That is last minute...). Here's the definition of procrastinate in case some of you do not know what it is. "Can we have the drumrolls??" *prapapapapapapam (that was an onomatopoiea was it not?)
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/procrastinate,
I hate to preach or anything but try not to do any last minute stuff i.e. school projects and especially homework. Peachy, just peachy. He managed to get in some saintly words. Kindly applaud him. He needs it.

Modern Day Idioms

I was sooo bored yesterday, the day before, and the day before the day before yesterday. Since an idle mind' is the devil's garage, I mean the devil's workshop, I decided to come up with some enriching idioms that are quite related to today's life. After all, people are quite apt to scream when there is thunder and throw away food. Why not illustriate their points?

To scream at thunder

To do something that is absolutely foolish..who can ever deny force majeure? It is something that no one can accomplish....hell, I am the one posting about it because I cannot do it myself. I mean, the thunder just seems to get angrier at every attempt of mine to scream. Just in case anyone every succeeds, do me a favour and let me know.

To throw away bad food
Ok. This is something everyone has encountered with since childhood and parents seem to incessantly say, "Ah boy/girl ah! Please do not waste food ah! There are millions of people in Africa who are dying fo hunger everyday ah." whose sentences are punctuated with "ah"s in the end. I mean...why always Africa?? Now there's Timor Leste and New Orleans I guess. Anyway, my point is this. When food goes bad (when we do not finish the food on our plates even though our parents unceasing babbling continues and we "ta pau" or keep the food as leftovers) after a weeks stay in the refridgerator, we must throw it away. After all who is going to consume leftover food? Moldy and fungal filled food? My neighbour's dog? I think not. Instead of satiating their hunger, they might as well just die. Throwing away bad food is to commit a necesary evil.
